TRIBAL TOUR & HORNBILL FESTIVAL 11N & 12D

DAY 01 : KOLKATA – DIBRUGARH (ASSAM)

On arrival at Dibrugarh Airport, you will be met by our local representative and transfer to homestay. In the afternoon, local sightseeing.

Homestay with Assamese tribe/ Namphake village.

DAY 02 : DIBRUGARH – MON (NAGALAND) (197 kms/7 hrs)

Transfer from Dibrugarh to Mon. We will pass by the tea gardens of Assam before entering Nagaland. Mon is the homeland of the Konyak Nagas area. Here former head-hunters with their tattooed faces and big horns in their ears can still be admired. In the afternoon, visit to Angh’s house at Chui. Konyaks are still ruled by hereditary chiefs known as Anghs.

DAY 03 : MON

Full day visit of Konyak tribal villages. First we will drive to Shangnyu, where we will visit the unique fertility shrine carved out of a single piece of wood. The shrine measures 20 feet long and 12 feet high. After lunch, visit the traditional Mon Village.

DAY 04 : MON – TUENSANG (192 kms/7 hrs)

After breakfast, transfer to Tuensang, where the Chang, Yimchunger, Khiamungan, Sangtam and Phom Nagas live. After lunch, visit the Tuensang Village.

DAY 05 : TUENSANG

Today we will visit tribal villages in the region of Tuensang like Kuthur, Yakur, Sangphuretc which has its own charm.

DAY 06 : TUENSANG – MOKOKCHUNG (110 kms/6 hrs)

After breakfast, transfer to Mokokchung, the cultural centre of the Ao Naga tribe.

DAY 07 : MOKOKCHUNG

Full day visit of Ao Naga tribal villages. In Impur you can walk around the village on the old missionary’s path and visit the local museum with tribal exhibits. In the afternoon, visit Longkhum, a vanguard village in the days of headhunting. Also visit Ungma Village, the oldest and biggest Ao village.

DAY 08 : MOKOKCHUNG – WOKHA – TUOPHEMA (112 kms/5 ½ hrs)

This morning transfer to Wokha. We will visit the nearby Longsa Village which is inhabited by the Lotha tribe. Here Longzu (monoliths) are erected to commemorate the merits of their ancestors. Later drive to Tuophema Village where you will attend an evening cultural show.

DAY 9 : TUOPHEMA – KOHIMA (42 kms/1 ½ hrs)

Transfer to Kohima, capital of the state of Nagaland. In Kohima you can still find the old town gates with their carved motives of headhunting. Other interesting sights include the local market and the war cemetery. In the afternoon we will visit Khonoma Village. Here the Angami Nagas fought a fierce battle against the British, who came in an expedition to these Naga hills in 1879.

DAY 10 : KOHIMA : HORNBILL FESTIVAL

Full day Hornbill Festival.

DAY 12. KOHIMA – DIMAPUR – KOLKATA

Today we shall bid farewell to the mystic land of the Naga’s. Morning after breakfast, transfer to Dimapur Airport to connect your flight for onward destination.
