DAY 1 : 25TH NOV : ARRIVAL AT IMPHAL AIRPORT

Upon arrival, meet our representative and drive to Hotel/Guest House. Check in to the Hotel/Guest House. Evening free to stroll around the town.

DAY 2 : 26TH NOV : IMPHAL (SANGAI FESTIVAL)

Today’s visit highlight shall be the Sangai Festival to witness various cultural shows etc. Afternoon after lunch go for a excursion to Loktak Lake which is 48 kms from Imphal and is about 1 ½ hours drive. This lake is the largest fresh water lake in India’s North-East. The lake is actually a floating lake in which one can see floating weeds associated with which are various aspects of life of the local inhabitant. Also visit Keibul Lamjao National Park, the only floating national park in the world and is the last natural habitat of the “Sangai”, the dancing deer of Manipur. A glimpse of this deer in this unique wetland ecosystem is a must for any wildlife enthusiast. Evening back to the Hotel/Guest House.

DAY 3 : 27TH NOV : IMPHAL (SANGAI FESTIVAL)

After breakfast visit Sangai Festival to witness various cultural events.
After Lunch, go for a trip to War Cemetery commemorating the memories of the British and Indian soldiers who died during the second world war which is serene and well maintained. After visiting the memorial, proceed further to Manipur state museum near the polo ground which has fairly a good collection and display of Manipur’s tribal heritage and a collection of portraits of Manipur’s former rulers, particularly interesting are the costumes, arms & ammunition, relics and other historical documents. Evening back to the Hotel/Guest House.

DAY 4 : 28TH NOV : IMPHAL (SANGAI FESTIVAL)

Morning after breakfast visit Sangai Festival and witness various cultural events.
After Lunch drive to Loukoi Pat which is about 30 kms and is 40 minutes drive and is considered a retreat for visitors from within and outside the state. Boating facilities and the scenic beauty of the place is mesmerizing. Evening back to the Hotel/Guest House.

DAY 5 : 29TH  NOV : IMPHAL – KOHIMA – KHONOMA (160 KM)

Today after breakfast we shall drive towards Nagaland, the land of festivals. Enroute visit Maramkhullen village which is about 4 km away from the main road (highway). Local Lunch. Post lunch, continue driving to Kohima and further drive to Khonoma village. We shall meet at dinner where an elderly village leader shall give a brief talk on History, culture, tradition and the successful outcome of the community participation in conservation of the natural wealth.

DAY 6 : 30TH NOV : KHONOMA – KOHIMA

Morning we shall explore Khonoma village come across gates, morung, forts and age group houses. cultivation is a system which has long been practiced by our forefathers since times immemorial and it was recently realized by the local people that it is the most sustainable and scientific way of shifting cultivation along with Alder trees which has some nitrogen fixation property on the tip of its roots that regenerates the soil. We shall also see the majestic Bos Frontalis (Mithun) the state animal of Nagaland leisurely grazing on the wayside. Picnic Lunch at Khonoma Nature Conservation & Tragopan Sanctuary buffer zone. Evening drive to Kohima, 18 km 1 hr, evening at leisure.

DAY 7 : 1ST DEC. KOHIMA – HORNBILL FESTIVAL

Morning we shall start our drive to Kisama, which is about 13 km from your hotel. Witness the grand opening ceremony of Hornbill 2016. There after we shall see the colours of Nagalnd tribes in dances, songs, games, etc. Lunch at Hornbill festival. We shall be looking forward to see more fascinating and ethnic culture of the Nagas.

Day 8 : 2nd Dec. HORNBILL FESTIVAL

Today we shall start our day with a visit to Kigwema village where we can still see traditional buildings alone with cultural practices of Morungs. Later visit take part in the Hornbill for the rest of the day. In the evening.

OPTIONAL

We shall participate in the night carnival at Kohima where we shall see people selling different items from Christmas decorations to chicken barbecue. One of the most interesting aspects of the carnival is the whole street being filled and flooded with people taking their family and friends for fun and dinner.

DAY 9 : 3rd Dec. HORNBILL FESTIVAL

Morning we shall visit the local bazaar which in itself is a silent introduction to Naga eating habits! We come across organic vegetables to crawling worms to jumping frogs, mushroom, etc.
Rest of the day at Hornbill Festival for more excitements.

DAY 10 : 4TH Dec KOHIMA – DIMAPUR (74 KM 2/3 hrs)

Today we shall drive to Dimapur to connect your flight for onward journey.
